My name is Janelle O’Martin. I’m a 28-year-old accountant, and I live in Orlando, Florida. Ever since I was a teenager, I had a really bad drinking problem. I hit my absolute bottom at age 23 when I nearly drank myself to death. I woke up in a hospital with the doctors telling me it was a miracle that I was alive. I knew that I had to do something so I did.

I went to rehab the next day. I went to The Recovery Village in Florida and stayed inpatient. It was there that I found the healing that I needed. After I successfully completed that treatment program, I joined SMART Recovery. I started going to regular meetings, and it was extremely helpful.

But the most helpful thing for me is that I started running. I found a new passion. At first, it was just that I would go for a run every time I felt like grabbing a drink, but after a while, it became something that I really needed to do.

Eventually, it got to a point where running saved me. I had tried to get sober a few times before, but until I found my love of running, it never stuck. I have now been sober for almost five years, and I owe it all to the love I found for running.

I want to start a running blog to document my adventures and also to offer tips to other runners. Thanks for coming to check out the blog. Have a look around and let me know what you think!
